Hammonds Direct up for sale?

The Lawyer magazine is reporting that the Hammonds Direct bulk conveyancing business is in discussion with potential buyers to buy the operation as a going concern but failing that could enter administration. The Hammonds' law firm offshoot has been hit by the collapse of the residential conveyancing market.

I wonder if this may effect Dickinson Dees who were due to sell their equivalent of Hammonds Direct to Optima Legal.

I'm not surprised – they acted for me on a residential conveyance recently and their service was poor and the amount of duplication of paperwork was unbelievable.

Perhaps whoever maintains their website should speak to Walker Morris and Deloittes who are handling the administration.

For those of us unfortunate to be part way through conveyancing with Hammonds Direct, do you have any useful advice as I do not seem to be able to find contact details for customers to use. I am concerned that all of my house sale documents willge lost in the confusion (deeds, NHBC certificates, search reports etc). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I worked for them and they got complaints all the time about people losing things.
