Harvey announced today (16 July) that it has acquired Benchmark, a decision infrastructure platform for asset management. Benchmark is an AI platform that pulls together a private investment firm’s scattered internal knowledge: old deal memos, financial models, emails, and legal documents, into a single searchable system. These are used to help teams screen deals, draft investment memos, and monitor portfolios faster.
Harvey, primarily known as a legal technology platform, also has offerings in the asset management space and already works with 50 firms including Blue Owl Capital, Bridgewater Associates and KKR. Its work with Blue Owl, where Harvey has been deployed firm-wide since September 2025 to support workflows across investment and business operations teams, points to the kind of deeper integration Harvey is now pursuing in asset management more broadly. The Benchmark acquisition extends Harvey across the full deal process, from first screen to investment committee.
The acquisition is Harvey’s third of 2026. The company also acquired Hexus in Janurary, a startup that builds AI tools for creating product demos, this acqui-hire was aimed at bolstering Harvey’s support for in-house legal teams. Lume AI, was another acqui-hire which bolstered Harvey’s engineering bench.
Harvey’s main competitor, Legora, has made four acquisitions this year, all since March. These include Walter AI, a Canadian agentic legal AI tool; Qura, which bolsters Legora’s legal research capabilities; Graceview, which added real-time regulatory intelligence to the product and most recently Cadastral, an AI platform for commercial real estate.
With Harvey’s acquisition of Benchmark and Legora’s of Cadastral, both are using M&A to push beyond core legal work into adjacent, document intensive verticals. In Harvey’s case in particular, the acquisition of Benchmark shows a doubling down on its offerings beyond its core legal product.
The value of the Benchmark acquisition was not disclosed.
