Our client, a national law firm, is looking to appoint a Head of IT Operations.
The Head of IT Operations role is to provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology initiatives across the IT Operational area encompassing Service Desk, Infrastructure and Networks, Desktop Support, and Telecommunications.
The Head of IT Operations contributes significantly to the definition and execution of IT Strategy across business, and is a member of the CIO management team.
Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the business organisation as a member of the CIO senior management team.
Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organisation.
Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
Act as an advocate for the organisation’s IT vision via regular written and in-person communications with the organisation’s executives, department heads, and end users.
Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development.
Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets.
Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
Coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance.
Establish lines of control for current and proposed information systems.
Direct development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
Assess and make recommendations on the improvement or re-engineering of the IT organisation.
Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact.
Supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organisation of all IT operational staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies.
University degree in the field of computer science or business administration.
Significant experience managing and/or directing IT operational services
Experience working in the Financial Services / Legal industry
Significant experience in designing and implementing industry recognized service design and implementation utilizing ITIL based standards
Experience in strategic planning and execution and managing strategic change delivery programmes
Experience in managing technical teams in the areas of;
Data Networking (LAN, WAN)
IP based telephony deployments
Infrastructure management / Data Centre operations
Service Desk implementation and management
Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
Significant experience defining IT strategies and supporting budgets.
Demonstrated understanding of the organisation’s goals and objectives.
Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
