It's deja vu all over again – or another example of an organisation trying to bucket a little more water out of the well. Yes, Informa Legal – the latest manifestation of the Informa Group to takeover running the Islington Legal IT Show – has just announced plans for a software product directory. This will be given out free of charge to the 2500 visitors attending the 2010 show – and all vendors have to do to be included is part with a little more of their marketing budgets.

Well done Informa for boldly going where nobody has gone before – that is if you exclude earlier directories published by The Lawyer, Legal Week/Legal IT, The Law Society and of course Keith Searby's Truemist outfit who produced an annual product directory in conjunction with their Barbican Solex shows.

* We were approached by some salesman because our website “sells services to lawyers”. We said “You haven't done your homework have you as you don't actually know what we do?” Embarassed silence from other end of phone. And then we pointed out that as we have far more readers than they have visitors, perhaps they should be advertising with us and not vice versa. Salesman's telesales script say no and the call ended.
