employing over 800 people and operating from 10 offices around the globe.
The firm is now looking to hire an Application and Development Manager to work from its offices in the City of London. This is an interim role expected to last between four and six months.
The Application and Development Manager’s primary responsibility is to oversee the effective operation of the Group’s applications and to lead the Group’s development efforts to ensure they align with and supports the Group’s objectives.
The Application and Development Manager will plan, coordinate, and design all operational activities of the Applications and Development team, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. The Application and Development Manager will work closely with decision makers in other teams and departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organisation.
Duties will include:
Manage the Application and Development team’s operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organising and negotiating the allocation of resources.
In conjunction with the other IT Managers in the group, manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all Application systems, including but not limited to Aderant Expert, HP Autonomy Worksite, Viewpoint, Linedata and Mantra.
Manage, maintain and support the SQL Server infrastructure for the Group.
Develop and support bespoke applications as required by the Group or the Group’s clients and ensure such development is done according to Industry best practice standards.
Where necessary, re-engineer systems design to ensure it aligns with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision.
Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
Oversee technical support services in relation to Applications ensuring adherence to the IT department’s service level agreements.
In conjunction with the other IT Managers in the group, develop and implement all relevant IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
Manage staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions for the Infrastructure team.
Establish and maintain regular communications with the department heads, and end users regarding IT activities.
KNOWLEDGE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
5 years experience managing an IT operation with experience in financial or legal sectors
Proven experience in strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development.
Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
Excellent leadership, written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
The role can be either operated as a fixed salary or daily rate.
