IT Manager, Law Firm, London

IT Manager, London and Essex competitive Salary

Our client is a highly regarded international law firm with offices across the UK. The firm is going through a period of rapid expansion and is now seeking an IT Manager with budget responsibility and to be responsible for the delivery of a first class service to its 500 plus team of fee earners and support staff.
The key responsibilities for the role will include:
Responsibility for the delivery of IT services and support
Ensuring a responsive support service is available to the firm and acting as an escalation point to key stake-holders
Ensuring service resilience and excellence
Overseeing global infrastructure
Managing an operational budget

Duties will include
Budget and planning
Team Management
Service Delivery Management
Operational process and support leadership
Ensuring compliance with BS7799 requirements
Assisting the Programme Manager in the planning of projects
Procurement and Supplier Management
Asset Management and Compliance

Essential: The successful candidate will likely have:
Good Degree in an appropriate discipline
Minimum of ten years of practical commercially-focussed IT experience
Demonstrable leadership and management skills and experience, with previous responsibility for recruiting, managing, and developing operational and support teams
Experience of managing budgets in excess of £1M
Excellent written and oral communication skills, and a firm but diplomatic approach
Outstanding problem solving abilities, including a demonstrable aptitude for getting to the root cause of complex technical problems
Ability to progress multiple tasks simultaneously
Experience in identifying issues, planning solutions, and managing expectations across multiple audiences

Technical skills:
Detailed knowledge or awareness of several of the following is essential. Although this is a management role, it will often be necessary to adopt a hands on approach to manage incidents and understand what your teams are telling you.
The Microsoft applications stack including Server, SQL Server, Exchange, etc.
Storage technologies ( NetApp) and online Backup solutions
High availability, fault tolerant, and disaster recovery techniques and technologies
LAN and WAN technology
Citrix technology for remote desktop, published applications, and VDI use
VMWare and SAN virtualisation technologies
Desktop technologies including Microsoft Office and common integrations
An understanding of two- and three-tier enterprise applications structures. The firm use Elite 3E, HP Filesite, InterAction, and other common legal-industry solutions
Telephony protocols and integration
