IT Project Manager – 12 month FTC – Howard Kennedy, London

We are currently seeking to enhance our Projects team capability through the hire of a new Project Manager who will work with the business to provide project management support across a number of key areas.


To support the lead Project Manager with the maintenance of project plans and documentation
Manage project lifecycle from inception to go-live through to Business As Usual transition phase
Proactively manage changes in project scope and successfully tackle unexpected situations with carefully thought through contingency plans
Provide business analysis throughout the whole project life cycle – requirements gathering, requirements analysis, writing functional specifications, development support and testing through to implementation and measuring business improvements
Adhere to project governance – RAID register, project documentation, best practice approaches
Prepare relevant project reports providing timely updates on progress to key project stakeholders
Identify themes of inefficiency and potential improvements in processes, tools and systems, working with the Lead Project Manager to roll out improvements through coaching and training
Update and manage project status including plans, dependencies, risks, issues, financial and resourcing on a timely basis
Develop and scope proposals and plans for continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility
Good planner and organiser, with an eye for detail
Commercially aware and a good negotiator with suppliers and managed service parties
Excellent team player to deliver projects on time and on budget


Experience of managing IT Projects, preferably in a legal environment
Knowledge of relevant IT packages including Document Management Systems, project extranets, Microsoft Project and Visio experience including a good knowledge of Excel
Minimum 2-3 years previous experience of legal or professional services environments
Proven track record of managing multiple projects
Ability to understand Project Briefs and translate them into workable and successfully delivered projects

Formal project management qualification (e.g. Prince2, PMP or equivalent)
MS Office implementations
Accounting / Billing / Time recording systems

Systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving
Excellent leadership and team working abilities from executive to project team members and supplier representatives
Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with senior management
