We have an exciting opportunity for a an IT Project Manager to join our IT team in Bristol. This is a permanent, full time position. Hours of work are 9.00 a.m.- 5.00 p.m., Monday to Friday with flexibility to meet deadlines as required.

Key responsibilities:

Reporting into the IT Projects and Programme Manager, this role will be responsible for managing and delivering a wide variety of IT projects in a quick and efficient manner.

Specific responsibilities will include:

To deliver client focussed IT projects ensuring that appropriate project methodologies are followed and adhered to including, but not limited to, the following:

Draft and submit project proposals
Direct and manage IT projects from beginning to end
Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents
Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
Liaise with project stakeholders on an on-going basis
Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project lifecycle
Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
Track project milestones and deliverables
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyse results, and troubleshoot problem areas
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project
Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management
Communicate any likely delays either within or outside your control to the Technology Development Manager as soon as they are apparent
Comply with Osborne Clarke Project Management processes and, where required, assist with their development and implementation
Person specification

We are looking for somebody with the following skills and experience:

Project management experience, including all aspects of process development and execution
Qualified to at least Prince foundation or practitioner level or equivalent is crucial
A good knowledge of the IT sector
Law Firm experience is preferable but if not, professional services and/or Partnership experience is essential
A high level of technical expertise in project management
A full and complete understanding of the technical project life cycle to facilitate the rapid and effective deployment of technology based projects to the firm
Project management experience in business process and IT based projects (such as infrastructure and software design / development / configuration and deployment projects)
Experience of managing a project portfolio is required
The ability and willingness to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
A strong understanding of project management tools is required, including experience in Microsoft Project Professional
A strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications is essential
Able to work autonomously and to schedule own resource appropriately
Respond quickly and appropriately to requests and ensure that colleagues are kept up to date on progress
Play an active and constructive part in the team
Carefully consider requests outside of your remit and ensure that if non-standard work is undertaken it does not negatively impact on yours or the team’s primary focus
Actively assist colleagues in times of high demand
Actively promote savings wherever possible whether that is through resource management, appropriate selection of cost-effective solutions or process refinement
