IT Project Manager/ Project Manager/ IT PM – hertfordshire

The Role:
As a Project Manager you will be expected to manage the delivery of a series of internal IT projects to the firm’s UK business and will be expected to follow the full project lifecycle from inception to completion.
You will be developing and enhancing applications and infrastructure solutions, such as:

• Document and Records Management Systems (iManage WorkSite from HP Autonomy)
• Internal and Client Collaboration Systems (Microsoft SharePoint 2013)
• Email and Messaging systems (Exchange 2010, Microsoft Lync)
• ERP and Practice Management Systems (SAP)
• Workflow Systems (PNMSoft’s Sequence Kinetics)
• CRM Systems
• Knowledge Management (SharePoint, iManage WorkSite)
• Implementing configuration management software to enable our fully virtualised datacentre environment provisioning
• Upgrading voice and data communication networks
• Upgrading Database environment (SQL Server 2008 – 2012)
• Upgrading Security Infrastructure and building our secure hosting facility
• Upgrading virtual desktop solutions (Windows Terminal Services 2008 – 2012, Citrix, VMWare View)
• Upgrading SharePoint systems (SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2013)

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the delivery of project products as defined by the firm’s Project Methodology and Quality Management System;
• Direct and motivate the resources assigned to the Project Team;
• Plan and monitor the project with regards time, cost, resources and the quality of the end products;
• Agree roles and responsibilities for the project including the formation of an appropriate project governance structure;
• Prepare Project, Stage and, if necessary Exception Plans in conjunction with Project Team and agree them with the Project Sponsor and the Programme Management Office;
• Manage business and project risks, including the development of contingency plans;
• Take responsibility for overall progress and use of resources, and initiate corrective action where necessary;
• Managing progress and project reporting for all technical resources assigned to the project
• Where appropriate, manage the vendor and product assessment process and external Supplier Management throughout the project delivery.
• Be responsible for managing the scope via a structured change control process;
• Report to the Project Board and Programme Office through Status Reports and Stage Assessments;
• Agree technical, quality and communication strategies with the Project Board;
• Prepare post implementation reports and include learning’s within subsequent project stages and via updates to the firm’s Quality Management System (QMS)
• Take line management responsibilities for one or more of the Junior Project Managers within the team including; objective setting; performance management; pastoral reviews; guidance and support; specific coaching;
• Coaching one or more of the Junior Project Managers within the team around areas of best practise
Skills & Experience:
• Ideally qualified as a Prince2 Practitioner (or equivalent);
• Ideally educated to degree level in a business related subject or equivalent experience in a business or IT environment;
• Demonstrable project management expertise with experience of having delivered 2-4 projects through a full project lifecycle within a large firm (ideally professional services);
• Knowledge of working with and delivering a wide variety of IT and related technologies;
• Driven and enthusiastic with a ‘can-do’ attitude to get the job done in a practical and pragmatic fashion without upsetting others;
• Proven written and oral communications skills and strong interpersonal skills that can be executed credibly to inspire confidence in you and the delivery of the project;
• A strong problem solver with a pragmatic and tenacious attitude to seek out resolutions;
• A desire to deliver a good quality output and to keep the customer happy and contented;
