In the latest installment of the titanic struggle between the forces of Good and Evil – or Evil and Good – between HP and OpenText – or OpenText and HP (readers are free to rearrange the names in any order) HP Autonomy iManage has reacted angrily to rumours that HP is looking to sell the Autonomy business, possibly to SAP.

Yesterday Bill McDermott (the co-CEO of SAP) spoke to CNBC (check the 2:30 mark) yesterday to say he never had such a conversation with Meg Whitman (the HP CEO) about purchasing Autonomy and that any report to the contrary was untrue. However it did emerge that SAP was aware Autonomy was on the market prior to HP’s acquisition but any reference to discussions being held after HP’s acquisition are “not factual.” So there.
