Two wins to report this morning: first up time capture specialist rekoop has marked the end of a successful first quarter with details of its largest ever contract win. It has been appointed by global giant DLA Piper to implement its mobile time recording solution to potentially 2500 lawyers worldwide, with only the Americas falling outside the scope of this project.

DLA Piper has completed a pilot scheme prior to moving quickly to a phased roll-out. Project managers and participants have already been very impressed by the seamless integration with Elite, the speed of delivery and get and go usability of the software, which is being deployed across a mixed environment of BlackBerry, iPhone and iPad.

Project manager Alice Creaser commented: “The slickness of the interface and the sheer ease of use of the rekoop product were key factors in our decision-making. That the technology is device agnostic and affords the same simple user experience regardless of platform was equally persuasive, while from an implementation perspective, the potential for a rapid, ‘light touch’ roll-out will hugely accelerate the initiative.”

Next up Brethertons Solicitors has signed a multi-year contract with Peppermint Technology to implement the Legal Service Platform across its four offices, replacing its incumbent Advanced Legal AIM (formerly IRIS AIM) and Salesforce.com systems.

Brethertons says it is bucking the industry trend of law firms downsizing by continuing to grow steadily to 218 staff.  Headcount has increased by almost a third in the last few years and the firm has doubled in size over the last decade. In 2013 so far, the firm recruited 30 new staff and appointed 5 more partners. The firm evaluated a wide range of solutions in the market over a 12 month period, and was assisted by the Neil Cameron Consulting Group throughout that process.

Brethertons CEO Michael Dibben commented “We spent a considerable amount of time and effort researching the legal technology market so that we made the right decision for the firm. Moving to a modern Microsoft platform gives us the latest technology foundation to support and accelerate the firm’s growth. The client centric, single platform approach provides us with the intelligence to deliver a personal and efficient service to clients. It also ensures we have absolute clarity of the firm’s position at any time.”
