The Project Manager is responsible for providing overall leadership and support to case teams and clients through planning, organizing and executing of Legal Technology projects along the entire EDRM workflow in support of a thriving litigation practice. This individual must have exceptional customer service skills and have the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical attorneys and staff.

This includes:

• Manage all phases of project through the EDRM and project life cycle
• Consult with clients, attorneys, and paralegals regarding all stages of the EDRM
• Provide consulting to case teams and clients on EDRM life cycle
• Manages client communications (oral and written); communications should be clear, concise and well written
• Communicate clearly with partners, attorneys, clients and vendors
• Understand the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
• Engage and coordinate with vendors for preservation, collection, harvesting, processing and production of ESI
• Act as primary liaison with technology service providers
• Manage service provider relationships
• Prepare recommendations, budgets and project plans for acquiring and implementing recommended solutions
• Provide consulting to case team and client on Early Case Assessment, Predictive Coding, Technology Assisted Review, and other analytical methods
• Manage relations with outside vendors: data processing, document coding, imaging, OCR conversion, and custom software development including preparing requests for proposals (RFPs), soliciting and evaluating vendor proposals, executing Letters of Engagement/service contracts, overseeing work in progress, reviewing work performed and approving invoices
• Effectively manage project change
• Coordinate document review and production with case teams

• Responsible for ensuring client requirements are defined and met for all phases of eDiscovery project including collection, processing, hosting and production
• Manage data work flow
• Serve as a team lead on client relationship issues for larger matters
• Manage and track project budgets, timelines, and deliverables
• Must be able to manage most aspects of eDiscovery project without the need of intervention by more senior staff
• Evaluate all key project deliverables, as well as final product to ensure high quality deliverables
• Work closely with Analyst and 3rd party Service Providers to ensure accurate and timely completion of all requests
• Prepare reports detailing project quality, client and team satisfaction, and project success metrics
• Oversee the creation of statistical reports providing information on collection, filtering, processing, review and productions
• Consult with legal team and clients on the selection of appropriate eDiscovery processing and software options
• Establish a liaison role with case team and assist with any litigation support requirements of each team
• Provide regular and ad hoc status reports, project schedules and budget information for the case team
• Establish and maintain a central repository of project information, including processes, procedures, tools, project implementation documentation and lessons learned
• Explain implications of changes to project scope and/or objectives to the client and to the case team
• Train case team on eDiscovery tools and technology
• Support individual case teams in all technological aspects of case work
• Work with members of other technology groups at firm to resolve technical problems that may arise
• Serve as a mentor to less experienced members of the department
• Develop and adhere to firm protocol to properly document eDiscovery project plans including workflows, role and task assignments, estimates, time tables and process improvements
• Monitor and ensure standard procedures for eDiscovery and litigation support projects are consistently applied to effectively comply with firm policies
• Assist department in development and implementation of internal processes, procedures, tools and best practices

The individual must possess excellent listening, written and oral communication skills. Strong leadership and service orientation with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with case teams, Legal Technology, and 3rd Party technology providers. Communicate with attorneys and staff in an effective, non-technical manner with patience, tact and diplomacy. Superior time management, organizational and project planning skills with the ability to convert plans into actionable project initiatives. Able to manage project metrics and performance measurements. Ability to problem solve and think analytically in a fast-paced environment. Strong resource planning, priority setting, and problem solving skills are required to respond to unanticipated business requirements. Ability to assume responsibility for projects from beginning to end. Self-starter approach to work, with an eagerness to consistently meet and exceed objectives and take on more responsibility. Undergraduate Degree (BA, BS) in Business, Technology, Legal Studies, Information Systems, or related fields; or significant relevant experience. E-discovery Certifications, Project Management or E-discovery Software Certifications a plus. Minimum 3 years of experience in legal technology project management at a law firm. Significant experience with Early Case Assessment, Predictive Coding, Technology Assisted Review, and other analytical methods. Experience with electronic discovery processing, forensic document collection, litigation holds, and other advanced litigation support functions. Proven experience in strategic planning and budgeting. In-depth knowledge of EDRM workflow. In depth project management experience in: planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, resource planning, best practice processes and techniques. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with extensive experience in Excel required and MS Access a plus. Experience with common litigation/document review applications such as Relativity, Concordance, CaseNotebook, CaseMap, FYI, LiveNote, Summation, Adobe, Law Pre-Discovery. Excellent project management skills. Experience in training Attorneys, Paralegals and Clients to use technology a plus.
