LegalKEY swapout: US firm Buchanan Ingersoll signs up with LegalRM
In a significant US win for London-headquartered records management company LegalRM, Am Law 200 firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC has joined its growing list of clients, underscoring a focus on the North American legal market.
Buchanan Ingersoll has selected iCompli Records for its information governance strategy, following what we’re told was an extensive selection process, which assessed a raft of internationally respected records management and information governance solutions for law firms. While LegalRM is 12 years old, iCompli is new, and the company has been working on integrations with leading platforms such as iManage and NetDocuments.
LegalRM is continuing to benefit from firms looking to upgrade from OpenText’s LegalKEY Records and Buchanan Ingersoll’s CIO, Philip Casale (pictured), said: “Like many firms looking to upgrade from LegalKEY Records, we were looking to invest in a software solution and an organization which understands our needs to align with our firm’s strategic plans and applications, along with our governance process and controls around the care of our clients’ information. iCompli Records, from LegalRM, became our choice after a thorough proof of concept. We are also encouraged with their roadmap and commitment to the US legal market through their recent investments.”
According to LegalRM’s founder and CEO Chris Giles, the tender and proof of concept was run by the entire records & information governance team at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. It involved practice assistants; attorneys; IT, records & information governance staff from across the business.
“This competition was an against the odds win for us,” Giles said. “At each stage of the selection process, we scored higher than the other vendors on all areas: functionality, conversion delivery, training, access and intuitive ease of use.”
LegalRM Limited’s North American Microsoft Azure-based content services platform for law firms has seen a burst of activity lately. Giles says: “Having delivered leading records management solutions for law firms for over 15 years, including four of the top 10 global firms, we see the integration of our flagship records management system, iCompli, with leading document management platforms, as a natural progression in delivering an integrated information governance solution: to law firms, corporate legal teams and other professional organisations.
iCompli, which is available in the cloud or on premises, provides a single point of control for both physical and electronic records, accessible through the familiar workspace views in partner products.
Giles said: “Today’s forward-thinking law firms cannot afford to be held back by legacy records products that are no longer being updated by the vendor, or those which cannot be fully integrated with their firm’s document management system. So many firms are migrating from LegalKEY and ARM legacy records management systems, due to the limited future roadmap of those applications. Others are looking to migrate from their current records system for operational or even strategic reasons; such as a need to create a joined-up approach to their information governance, to streamline business processes or to accelerate their business transformation needs.”
