Litera, the US-based legal technology platform, announced today (Wednesday 3rd June) that Foundation 365, its AI-powered client relationship platform for law firms, is now available across Microsoft 365. It is a move that will bring relationship and client intelligence directly into Microsoft CoPilot, Outlook and Teams. This development builds on Litera’s acquisition of UK-based Peppermint Technology in February 2025, with the combined product now rebranded as Foundation 365.
Developed on Microsoft Dynamics 365, Foundation 365 targets the issue of lawyers not updating their firms’ client relationship management (CRM) systems. By embedding client and relationship data directly into lawyers’ existing tools, Litera expects that to change. Lewis Davies, a CRM manager at Womble Bond Dickinson, a law firm using the tool, said in the press release that the tool will “give each team the flexibility to track relationships and opportunities in a way that suits them”, making his life as a CRM manager much easier.
The legal technology company, which serves 99% of the Am Law 100 and more than 2.3 million daily users, says over 4,000 global firms use Foundation 365, including five of the world’s ten largest law firms. Litera acquired Foundation in 2021 and law firms such as Frost Brown Todd have used it to develop a client intelligence tool called Co360 which is built on Foundation and the firm’s data lake to generate company research reports in minutes, giving attorneys up-to-date matter and relationship intelligence before client meetings. The firm has also used the same underlying data to build a client-matching algorithm that proactively alerts clients to newly filed litigation and relevant government contract reviews.
Foundation 365 expands on Litera’s long-running relationship with Microsoft and expands upon its Sharepoint integration in December 2025 and its go-to-market partnership and CoPilot integration since 2024.
“Professionals increasingly expect critical business data to be available directly in the flow of work, without the friction of switching between applications or disrupting productivity,” said Karan Nigam, head of product marketing for agentic customer experience at Microsoft. “Through our collaboration with Litera, we’re helping legal professionals securely access relationship intelligence and client insights within Microsoft 365.”
