Management rejig as Butterworth moves on from Bighand

BigHand today announced management changes following the recent sale of the business to Bridgepoint Development Capital. President & CEO of its US business, Steve Butterworth, is relocating back to the UK, and long term BigHand executive Dan Speed becomes Managing Director North America, adding the US to his existing responsibility for Canada. At the same time BigHand COO Rob Lancashire will also take over responsibility for the Asia Pacific region.

Steve, who will be leaving the company, joined BigHand in 1999 and was a member of the original management buyout team in 2006. During his time at BigHand he was instrumental in growing the customer base in the UK, Europe and Asia Pacific as well as establishing BigHand as market leader in North America. After a successful secondment to the USA, Steve has decided to take some time out to spend with his family and consider his future options.

Dan Speed will now add responsibility for the highly regarded US team to his existing responsibility for Canada, focusing on building a North American strategy that will allow BigHand to focus even greater resource and experience on its current and prospective customers. As one of the longest serving members of the BigHand team with over 11 years’ experience, Dan has to date successfully grown both the Asia Pacific and Canadian business units of BigHand. Committed to growth through excellence in products and customer service, Dan will build on the client base and relationships created by Steve to reinforce BigHand as the preeminent supplier of voice productivity technology in North America.

To allow Dan to focus on the North American market, BigHand COO Rob Lancashire will take on direct responsibility for the Asia Pacific business unit. Rob is one of the most experienced senior executives in the voice productivity market and will be able to focus on taking the market leading APAC business unit through to the next stages of its success, as he did previously with the UK part of BigHand’s business.

BigHand CEO Jon Ardron commented “We will definitely miss Steve’s commitment to BigHand and his insight and knowledge of the domain we work in. I fully understand his decision, after the years of tireless commitment he has given to the business, to take some time out for both himself and his family, and I know my colleagues and the many clients that know Steve wish him well in his future endeavours. With the backing of our new owners Bridgepoint Development Capital and the focus of talented executives such as Dan Speed and Rob Lancashire, we will continue to invest in delivering success for our customers through our voice productivity solutions and our high quality services.”
