Slicedbread is a very different type of IT consultancy, we’re proud to have turned the traditional consultancy model on its head. With a clear strategy, much fun and enthusiasm we are committed to transforming our clients businesses through the innovative use of technology.
If you’re passionate about technology, and you’ve got a track record of building systems that deliver real value, but are fed up with management structures, endless meetings and tiresome politics then this role could be for you!
We’re looking for someone that eats, drinks and sleeps technology, but understands that there is life beyond the keyboard. If you want to work with smart people, on interesting technology, enjoy a lively debate without egos or corporate bullshit, and simply enjoy shipping software, then that’s exactly what Slicedbread is looking for!
Tech wise we are a “.net shop”, but not a stodgy, stereotypical, Microsoft Kool-Aid kind of “.net shop”. We primarily focus on the Microsoft stack, but embrace alternative solutions such as Nancy, GetEventStore, RabbitMQ, KnockoutJS and PetaPoco (to name a few). We expect candidates to have a solid knowledge of “Microsoft-land”, but also a strong interest in Open Source and these alternative solutions – you may not have commercial experience building with the alternatives, but if you’re the kind of person that loves to learn, and strives for self-improvement, then that’s the kind of person we’re looking for – if you can also show us some Open Source contributions that would also earn you some serious Brownie Points!
Attitude wise we expect want opinions but not egos, and at this level you should understand that the customer solution comes first, and shipping software is often the most important, and most often overlooked feature. Although we expect you to be able to show consultancy and architectural chops, Ivory Tower architects need not apply – this is a role where you will be getting your hands dirty on a daily basis. Sharing of knowledge is also very important at Slicedbread, both via regular “geek ups” and through mentoring of more junior developers. We also host a development user group once a month at our offices, with a variety of external speakers to help spread knowledge both internally and externally.
Based predominantly at our offices in Altrincham, Cheshire and with a flexible home working policy. There may be periods of time on our client sites, but we do our best to minimise these – you certainly won’t be a “road warrior”!
If you’ve gotten this far and are still thinking “this is me!” then please drop us a line – Slicedbread is the kind of place the awesome people like you deserve to work!
Location: Altrincham + some travel
