Our client is a highly regarded medium size firm employing over 250 fee earners from their offices in Central London. The firm is going through a period of sustained growth and to support this, it is now seeking a Network Engineer with a background in the legal or professional services sectors to join its highly professional ICT team.

Reporting to the IT Director, the post holder will be responsible for IT, audio/visual, video conferencing and telecoms systems as well as network and server support/administration. The role will also involve third line support.

Key responsibilities include:
Manage, configure, administer and support Cisco Call manager phone system and Cisco networks including switches, firewalls and routers
VM Ware support, installation and management
Manage, configure, administer and support Wide area networks and LANs; storage area networks including Netapp; Active Directory and group policies and TCP/IP networking
Manage, configure, administer and support VPN and remote working technologies including Citrix
Manage server builds, upgrades installation, maintenance, administration and repair
Manage, configure, administer, install and support Microsoft Exchange 2010, SQL 2008 Windows server 2008 R2
Manage network infrastructure installation upgrades maintenance, enhancement and security.
3rd line support
Desktop design to reflect the firm’s policies and procedures.
Monitoring and fine-tuning of network application and server performance through the use of industry standard tools.
Audio visual and VOIP telecommunications

With experience working within a professional IT department, ideally for a law firm or professional services company, you will need experience with the following technologies
Cisco Call manager phone system and Cisco networks including switches firewalls and routers
VM Ware Support installation and management
WANs and LANS, SANS including Netapp
Active Directory and group policies
TCP/IP networking web, mail, content sweeping and firewall
VPN and remote working technologies including Citrix
Good all round knowledge of PC/server and peripheral hardware
Microsoft Exchange installation repair and maintenance
Good all round knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Back office products
Technical background with proven experience of MS SQL server Exchange Sever 2010 windows server 2008 R2
HP Server, Cisco Network equipment, Netapp storage, Fibre channel switching
Experience with switches, routers and cat 6 cabling installations also required
Cisco scripting
Networks including WANs LANs copper and fibre
Experience of Network/server administration
A knowledge of legal apps preferable (Worksite, Carpe Diem, Interaction, CMS Open)

As well as your technical skills, you will need the following experience:
Proven Network Engineer experience, preferably within professional services or financial services
Methodical and organised with experience of handling demanding workloads and arranging own priorities
Proven experience of working to deadlines and under pressure at times

The role will involve a shift pattern between 8.30 -19.00 and some extended work time is also necessary
