News just in from Sean Hockings of the Law Librarians Newsletter

We have just launched the beta of the PS.com Community linked to our website PracticeSource.com which supplies information for and about the legal community/industry in the Asia-Pacific region. (This also carries the blog House Of Butter which provides all the latest updates in the world of legal content and information.) If you'd like to register with the PS.com Community just link through to

We've just updated the beta so you can now add the following features to your profile page
• Your Twitter Updates
• Your Choice Of News Feeds
• Friends Location Map
• Your Blog Feed
• Wall (Comments etc as per Facebook)

We have also just created the forum Legal Information Laboratory where we hope to build a new database of comments polls and ideas about legal information provision, KM and legal content technology. This is an open forum where all aspects of legal information can be discussed. Further forums will follow  and we are always open for suggestions about all aspects of the community to build it and make it a worthwhile point for communication.

The system as been built using Joomla open source apps. Hockings adds “Although it doesn’t have the power of a Facebook there are a number of similar features and by year's end we think that you won’t really be able to tell the difference between social networking sites created with proprietary software and open source such as Joomla. We also think that we are one of the first off the block in terms of independent legal sites to provide this …and as far as I’m aware the only one in our region of the Asia Pacific.”
