Fast-growing client intelligence solution provider OnePlace has hired former LexisNexis Enterprise Solutions international sales director Guy Phillips as it formally opens its first London office in light of client demand.

OnePlace, a solution built on the Salesforce platform that now counts Bird & Bird among its clients, is opening a Gray’s Inn Road office, where Phillips and heavyweight VP of consulting and success Vijay Motiramani will be based. The office will be hiring consulting and support staff.

Phillips was a member of the senior leadership team at Lexis, responsible for a team across EMEA and APAC that sold solutions including Lexis Interaction; Lexis’ client relationship management offering.

Phillips has been at Lexis for over 10 years, starting as head of new business in 2005. Before that he was one of the founders and UK managing director for expense management provider Necho Systems Corp.

Motiramani, meanwhile, joined OnePlace in November 2015. He earlier headed up Lexis Interaction’s global consulting and support division before joining SAVO Group in 2010.

The pair will be working with OnePlace CEO and founder Tim Smith, who is based in San Francisco and himself worked as a Lexis Interaction consulting director in Asia Pacific, before founding OnePlace in March 2012.

Smith said: “At this stage, we have a number of law firms using or about to sign up to use OnePlace and we are growing aggressively.”

He added: “Quite a lot of our sales team and consultants have UK experience, and regularly hop on planes from Australia or the US to deliver the work.  So yes, getting an office and establishing a permanent UK presence is exciting.  But the UK clients we have now haven’t noticed that we haven’t been there based on technology allowing us to call, arrange shared screens, etc.”

OnePlace is headquartered in Sydney and also has an office in Toronto and Chicago.

As revealed by Legal IT Insider in March 2016, Bird & Bird this year signed up with OnePlace, which integrates with firms’ internal systems including exchange, time and billing, event management tools, human resources systems and fee-earners own calendars. It gives users a centralised view of clients and contacts, including forthcoming events, meetings, publications, matters and tenders.

OnePlace uses a series of native apps for IOS, Android, BlackBerry or Windows and users can look up contact details and make notes on their phone or tablet.

The big selling point for Bird & Bird was that OnePlace customers have access to the Salesforce community and AppExchange, where they can select add-on apps. Integrations include Intapp TimeBuilder, NetDocuments and email marketing tools Concep and MailChimp.
