International law firm Osborne Clarke is spinning off an independent company that uses AI agents to automate the continuous monitoring of European regulation for legal and compliance departments. The platform analyses more than 200 legal and regulatory sources daily and delivers only business-relevant changes tailored to each company.
Traditionally, these monitoring tasks have consumed substantial resources within corporate legal departments while still carrying the risk of critical updates being overlooked. Osborne Clarke knows this pain point from its own advisory practice and acts as exclusive partner providing the regulatory expertise behind the product.
The founding team combines legal and technical expertise: CEO Alexander Lilienbeck is a lawyer and software developer, recognised by JUVE in 2025 as one of the “Top 10 Legal Tech Rising Stars in Germany”. CTO Christian Braun specialises in AI and machine learning systems and has previously founded two AI Start-ups. As Chairman & Managing Director, Gereon Abendroth brings more than 20 years of experience to Justima.
With Justima, Osborne Clarke says that it is actively shaping the AI-driven transformation of the firm. While many law firms still regard AI primarily as an internal efficiency tool, Osborne Clarke is bringing to market a solution that delivers direct value to clients as well.
“AI is transforming the legal market and we prefer to actively shape this change rather than simply react to it. Osborne Clarke is a leader in the regulatory space and in AI engineering. With Justima, we bring both together. For clients, this means: wherever problems can be solved with AI, we solve them with AI. Our lawyers step in where judgement, experience and interpretation are required,” says Abendroth.
Prior to its official launch, approximately 60 companies from the compliance sector had registered for early access. Users include companies such as Condor, Karlsberg Brewery, AUTODOC and further DAX-40 and Fortune 500 companies.
