Project manager – Law Firm, London
Our client is an international law firm with offices across the UK. The firm has gone through a period of rapid expansion and is now looking fro a Project Manager to join its highly professional ICT department.
The primary responsibility of this role is work on business and client facing projects which contain technical deliverables. This includes working with sponsors and stakeholders to define business case and objectives and help ensure benefits are realised. Deliver IT projects using the firms project management framework and support the IT Programme Manager in the overall delivery of the IT programme.
The main tasks will include:
Define, plan, document and manage complex IT projects from beginning to end.
Communicate clearly and effectively with project teams, stakeholders and clients through all stages.
Define project scope, objectives and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
Ensure business case and scope is clearly defined, challenging where necessary.
Lead the analysis and definition of business requirements, design, technical specification and test plans.
Prepare and maintain realistic project plans. Track milestones, quality and deliverables. Maintain risk and issue logs.
Monitor and control team delivery against plan. Evaluate the delivery of project members. Provide reports to client/user management and senior IT management as required.
Manage 3rd party suppliers on all matters relating to both technical and non-technical elements of the suppliers’ scope of delivery.
Monitor and control allocated manpower, associated revenue costs and all capital costs against the project budget.
Ensure change control procedures are followed and actively used to assess the effect of changes to the projects on cost, time scale and/or resource needs and reports this to the project sponsors.
Lead, motivate and supervise the project team. Delegate and allocate tasks as appropriate.
Liaise with project stakeholders and other managers within the business and within the IT function. Manage expectations for the projects.
Advise resource managers on any development, training and appraisal issues for project staff.
Develop effective business relationships to facilitate the success of projects.
Evaluate and make recommendations on technical options as appropriate.
Adhere to all IT Quality and Project Management standards as defined.
Work with the project management team to help develop and promote the firms project management framework.
Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Head of Applications Development and Project Management.
Maintain the high standard of service offered to the firm’s internal clients and to assist in creating and developing the professional reputation of the department.
Ensure confidentiality and security of all practice and client’s documentation and all information.
Undertake any specific training as and when required by the HR Department, supervisor or Partners of the firm.
Ideally a graduate and with formal Project Management qualifications, you will need the following experience:
A background within legal, professional/financial services or insurance sectors
Foll project lifecycle delivery
Ideally experienced with legal industry technologies such as document management, case management, SharePoint, document production
Managing project budgets
Ideally, familiarity with ISO standards and IT audits
Additionally, you will need excellent inter-personal, communication, numeracy and team leading skills.
