Quality Assurance Analyst – Pinsent Masons

Purpose of the Role:
To work with the Quality Assurance Manager and Head of Project Services to develop, establish and implement quality assurance and control standards for all Information Technology services delivered to the firm. To help validate and control all IT processes through careful testing, in order to maximise the business investment in IT initiatives. To work with other release and deployment teams in delivering valued IT Services to the business that are ‘fit for purpose’.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Contribute to the development, establishment and implementation of quality assurance control measures and testing standards for new applications, products and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development/product lifecycles
• To retire products and processes which have been superseded by new technology and work with departmental teams in order to update the configuration management system
• Create and execute test plans for any new services, software, or products, which are derived from projects and as a result of the change management process, ensuring that all new services and products follow the support transition and release control validation process
• Analyse test results in order to discover and report any defects, errors or configuration issues and report back presenting recommendations for improvement or alternatives to address potential problems identified during testing phase
• Communicate test progress, test results and other relevant information to relevant project stakeholders and managers
• To manage relationships within the business in accordance with testing processes
• Liaise with third party suppliers as required to organise demonstrations of upgraded software/products to facilitate effective testing
• Analyse documentation and the technical requirements of any new application and/or system under deployment or consideration, to determine its intended function
• Work with the Quality Assurance and Change Management Co-ordinator to maintain the Configuration Management system
• Ensure that the Knowledge Management system contained within vFire is regularly updated with any relevant fixes and communicated
• Create Knowledge Bank entries pertaining to new products and services and upgrades to existing services. Disseminate the information to the IT Operations Team to ensure sufficient support is in place
• Verify and revise quality assurance standards where needed
• Fully test any authorised non-standard software before deploying to the standard desktop
• Assist the Quality Assurance Manager and the Head of Project Services with the creation, drafting and documenting of IT operational policies and procedures, both internal and firm wide, as required
• Assist in updating the Knowledge Management System when building upon the portfolio of working practices, policies, procedures and operational guidelines within the ITIL framework and best practice guidelines
•Assist in updating the Service Portfolio and Service Catalogue in line with ITIL
• Monitor calls during the release of new projects and initiatives to the firm and the Service Catalogue to ensure no system conflicts or issues occur after introduction
• Use the dedicated IT Service Management system, vFire, to manage support queries allocated to the Quality Assurance Team
• Use the Schedule of Works document to manage workload and to facilitate the maintenance of the Resource Schedule for the Quality Assurance Team in relation to testing
• Provide absence cover for the Software Asset Manager/Quality Assurance and Change Management Co-ordinator in relation to dealing with new non-standard software requests received via the online form
• Any other duties as assigned by your Manager or Head of Project Services

• Formal ITIL accreditation (to at least foundation level version 3)
• Further life cycle or capability qualifications in ITIL would be advantageous
• ISTQB Software Testing Foundation qualification or any other software testing/engineering qualification

Relevant Knowledge and Experience
• Previous experience of working in an IT testing capacity
• Previous experience of working with software compliance monitoring tools
• Previous experience of creating and executing test scripts
• Previous experience of Microsoft Office product suite and operating systems
• Working knowledge of change management processes
• Working knowledge of release and deployment processes
• A technical background is desirable
