Recommind has announced a strategic hosting and sales alliance with LexisNexis to provide what it claims will be the industry’s most advanced hosted ediscovery review and analysis platform. The new solution enables rapid deployment of Axcelerate On-Demand, Recommind’s end-to-end ediscovery review platform with its predictive cvoding capabilities. The alliance with Recommind provides LexisNexis clients with more options and greater flexibility in discovery. The US-based service will enable enterprises and law firms to reduce the costs and timelines associated with document review and analysis as part of litigation and regulatory investigations.

Axcelerate On-Demand is the hosted version of Recommind’s Axcelerate Review & Analysis product. It combines all the features of the Axcelerate Review & Analysis on-site software, including predictive analytics, predictive coding, processing, review, analysis and production, with the security, scalability and ease-of use of a hosted solution. Axcelerate On-Demand enables multiple parties to confer and collaborate on a single matter through a secure, centralized web-based interface.

Through its Hosted Litigation Solutions group, LexisNexis provides a full service litigation offering which includes a hosted approach to managing discovery and pre-discovery documents that now offers access to Recommind’s Axcelerate On-Demand to help meet case by case needs or as part of a dedicated firm-wide solution. The new offering includes top-tier infrastructure capabilities together with a robust, globally diverse IP network from LexisNexis, as well as business continuity in the event of a disaster or unforeseen event such as severe weather, prolonged power outage or major data center event. Additionally, LexisNexis world-class data centers and hosted services offer time- and budget-crunched IT departments the peace of mind that their vital systems and data are well-protected and always readily available.

“With non-stop growth in US litigation and increased regulatory review, corporations and law firms are increasingly in need of a cost effective and technologically advanced ediscovery solution that can be rapidly deployed,” said Bob Tennant, CEO of Recommind.  “Customer demand for Axcelerate On-Demand with predictive coding out-paced our original estimates for 2010 with 500% growth year-over-year. To accommodate this accelerated demand, we chose to build a relationship with LexisNexis because they have the best facilities and expertise in the US and provide a strategic opportunity to expand our joint offerings beyond document review. With this strategic product alliance in place, Recommind and LexisNexis are poised to change the way corporations and law firms manage litigation in 2011 and into the future.”

“LexisNexis has an ongoing commitment to provide law firms with a complete portfolio of world class solutions and services that help deliver better outcomes to customers as they achieve excellence in the business and practice of law,” said Terry Williams, vice president of Hosted Litigation Solutions at LexisNexis. “Our new alliance with Recommind provides a centralized, web-based solution that will enable enterprises and law firms to easily, securely and economically review information and meet budgetary constraints and impending deadlines no matter the size or complexity of the case at hand.”

Comment: Great news for Recommind. Not quite so sure about the LexisNexis strategy (which seems to fluctuate from buying up everything they can lay their hands to working with partners) but the overall result is LexisNexis customers can now get pretty much everything they would want in the ediscovery field from LN. Given LexisNexis activities in the mainstream legal software sector as well, the company is now well on its way to owning the legal desktop, in terms of both the information lawyers use and the tools the use to manipulate that data.
