On Monday the Legal Support Network held its regular London networking event at Corney & Barrow, City Point. Our associate editor Joanna Goodman was there…

As one of the first pre-Christmas get-togethers, before overindulgence kicks in and we all get jaded, Legal Support Network’s London networking event attracted record numbers: 311 people were there, representing 89 law firms, which was pretty impressive for a cold Monday night. Apparently people had travelled from as far away as Birmingham, Northampton, Manchester and Liverpool. The fact that four in 10 people attending had never been to an LSN networking event before demonstrated the dynamic growth of the LSN community.

I was one of the first-timers; and although there was barely room to move, the event was well organised with speedy bar service and a breakout meeting area. Everyone was in excellent spirits. Elite was the premium sponsor, providing the hospitality that kept the party going strong for hours and APS sponsored useful colour-coded badges that facilitated networking – enabling people to see at a glance whether someone was from Finance, Marketing or IT. FWBS sponsored a prize draw for a holiday in Florida – the winner hasn’t been announced yet – and IntApp sponsored a video of the event that will be published next week on the LSN website.

I gravitated towards the general management, KM and IT crowd but it was also interesting to meet people in different roles and functions, network with representatives of firms ranging from the Magic Circle to small regional practices and touch base with suppliers and consultants. Most of the usual suspects were there. The event provided an excellent opportunity to catch up with familiar faces (lots of them!) and meet many valuable new contacts. And of course it was also time to catch up with the LSN team.
