Senior IT Project Manager/Senior PM/Programme Manager
£60-70k + benefits
My client, a prestigious international law firm based in the city are searching for a Senior IT Project Manager to join them on a permanent basis. Working as part of the IT department, this role involves managing numerous different projects and supervising and leading small team of project managers and business analysts.
The work will involve ensuring that standards are set and met for each project, and that any assistance required to support the management and delivery of the project are provided. As well as managing projects it will also involve leading and managing a small group of project managers and business analysts.
The responsibilities of this role will include (but are not limited to):
Ensuring that all projects follow the project initiation process.
Ensuring that all development work follows the development initiation process.
Ensure that developed processes are implemented and maintained within the organisation in line with the requested timeframes.
Producing project deliverables on a timely basis, adhering to the reporting process
Updating and managing project status including plans, dependencies, risks, issues, financial and resourcing on a timely basis.
Collating all checkpoint/progress reports for submission.
Ensuring that successes and achievements are properly reported.
Ensuring IT services use programme and project management process appropriately.
Ensuring IT services use risk and issue management appropriately.
Ensuring IT services use financials and reforecast appropriately.
Develop and scope proposals and plans for continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility.
Maintain liaison and exchange of information on a regular basis with key stakeholders.
Reporting of the project portfolio to the IT Director.
Experience managing IT Projects, in a professional services environment (preferably legal)
Strong people management/team leadership skills.
Experience managing both Waterfall and Agile projects.
Commercially aware and a good negotiator.
Good planner and organiser, with an eye for detail.
Self-motivated and results driven.
Sufficient strength of character not only to demand high standards from their teams to constantly seek improvement, but also to deal with negative feedback.
Hands on, level headed and pragmatic.
Systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving.
Able to plan and control own work, selecting and utilising effectively appropriate methods, procedures, tools, equipment and standards.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
A broad understanding of IS concepts and practice.
Experience of project/programme management control methodologies.
Working knowledge of IT management, application development, infrastructure, support and operations.
Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with senior management.
Knowledge of technical jargon and essentials of project and systems methodology including the life cycle for development and implementation.
Experience in either the implementation or continual improvement of PMO processes and reporting
