Technical Consultant

A Technical Consultant wears many hats within Thomson Reuters Elite. Primarily responsible for all the technical aspects of an implementation of one or more products at a number of clients. The key focus is providing the high level of service that the clients expect and ensuring that customer satisfaction is high at all times.

The successful candidate will have spent several years working with external clients, owning the technical relationship as well as providing technical guidance to mixed discipline audience. They are likely to have come from a professional services background and have experience of working on concurrent projects at multiple clients.

The role requires interaction with many client profiles so it is important that the candidate is able to communicate a range of complex technical subjects and issues to a varying audience.

As the products all rely heavily on web technologies it’s important the applicant has a strong technical background in this area, and at least some exposure to CRM systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Interaction or BDS). In addition to this, being able to demonstrate previous experience of leading remote development teams is also key.

Given the fluid nature of the implementations, the candidate should be comfortable with solving problems varying in nature and complexity. Unplanned changes should be met with a considered technical impact assessment while maintaining empathy for the client’s situation, so a pragmatic approach is required in order to remove hurdles that would otherwise hinder the project’s progress.

This role is primarily based from Aldgate House in London, however the role will involve occasional travel to client sites.

The role has no direct reports but requires control of technical teams so it is important that the candidate is comfortable with the matrix management model. Team sizes vary from two to ten individuals so similar experience should be demonstrated.

Experience required

– Full project lifecycle exposure
– Technical Architect experience not limited to but including Business intelligence platforms, service bus, infrastructure and data warehouse design
– Experience scoping and delivering complex ETLS which interact with integrated ERP like systems (e.g. SAP, Dynamics CRM)
– Proven experience of managing development teams through complex build work streams
– Commercial experience of C# .Net/SQL Server/BizTalk/WCF/IIS 7+/HTML/CSS – Strong verbal, written communication skills
