Jamie Fraser has left his role as director of legal operations and innovation at FTSE 100 giant Smiths Group to launch his own advisory business that will help legal functions with everything from strategic redesign and tactical implementation to helping GCs to get a project over the line.
Find pieces of the project you can implement first. Look at what is on the edges of the accounting system. What system modules do timekeepers use versus the back office? Can you push out implementing some of the new modules to a second phase? Hill Dickinson, led by director of IT and operations Keith Feeny, will shortly begin a three-to-five-year IT strategy review that is expected to see a significant further shift towards the cloud as the firm also looks towards a digital mailroom and more choice over its mobile devices.
Feeny and his team at the top 40 firm will start to look at a new strategy at the end of Q1 in 2016 and are already in discussion with a number of suppliers to work out how to move forward.
