Reporting into the Network Infrastructure Manager the Technical Architect will work within the Network Infrastructure team providing technical assistance and support. The Technical Architect will be responsible for the technical work required to deliver IT projects and solutions.


– Designing end-to-end technical solutions, i.e. from the desktop to the backend

– Providing the technical lead for the design and support of the firm’s Document Management System

– Providing technical input and support for IT Infrastructure support teams

– Writing technical documentation following the upgrade or implementation of existing or new systems

– The appropriate handover of new or upgraded systems into the production environment team

– Advising Managers on technical risks to projects

– Assist in the implementation of the KWM disaster recovery plan

– Evaluation of new hardware and software

– Liaise with suppliers regarding technical issues

– External vendor and supplier management

– Problem resolution management

– Advising on the Storage Design for Projects

– Advising on the performance and security for proposed systems

– Investigation of Technologies and making recommendations to the management team that match the IT Department Strategy

– Research new technologies relevant to the business goals and the technology farm

– Problem resolution management within Project Delivery

– Architect real-time solutions to resolve an incident

– Working with Colleague on Global Projects

Essential Skills/Knowledge required:

– Excellent knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems

– Excellent knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems

– A good working knowledge of the principles of E-Mail, including Microsoft Exchange

– Knowledge of the principles of SQL server

– Knowledge of the principals of LAN and WAN operation

– Windows MCSE MCITP (or working towards)

– Excellent knowledge of the use of TCP/IP on a Microsoft platform

– A good working knowledge of switching and routing within a TCP/IP environment

– A good working knowledge of Cisco LAN switching and routing to at least CCNA level

– Knowledge of Wide Area Network principles together with WAN acceleration concepts

– Good knowledge of Virtual Servers

– Good knowledge of Storage Solutions and Replication

Abilities/ Aptitudes:

– Ability to learn quickly with the minimum of supervision

– The ability to learn new systems without technical direction or training

– Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

– A flexible approach to working hours. The role will often include both evening, weekend working and Global travel


– Extensive experience in an IT environment

– IT related education such as MCSE, MCITP, VCP, CCNA, etc

Hours: 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. Extra hours may be required to ensure duties are fully discharged. Overtime is payable.
