The Orange Rag Newsletter is Here!

Hi and welcome to the first Orange Rag newsletter of the year, with all of the big news stories, wins, deals, acquisitions and layoffs that you need to be aware of from the past month.

Much of the news over the past few weeks has been in the eDiscovery sector, where New York Stock Exchange-listed vendor Disco is having a fairly torrid time, having announced that it is to make 9% of its workforce redundant, following a slump in its share price. It is certainly not the only eDiscovery player to announce redundancies – at the end of December, Relativity announced its own round of 150 layoffs.

Extrerro – which is heading towards an IPO – this month acquired eDiscovery rival Zapproved. This is part of a continued drive to provide all of a corporate legal team’s data and GRC needs under one roof. Last year CEO Bobby Balachandran gave us the analogy that cameras and phones were once separate, commenting that “you couldn’t imagine them being separate anymore.” You can read more on how Balachandran’s observations are coming to pass in our eDiscovery section.

Of course, GPT-3 has been a huge topic of conversation over the past month, and we have included a dedicated GPT-3 section to capture news on some of the past month’s developments around the large language model, which is the real deal when it comes to AI. We have so many big interviews coming up on this, so keep your eyes on legaltechnology.com and sign up for our daily email bulletin to make sure you are among the first to see them.

One final bit of huge news is that our inaugural CRM report is coming out in the next 10 days. Written by lead analyst Neil Cameron, there is absolutely nothing like this deep product dive in the market. See our top stories below for more on how to sign up in advance.
