Marty Metz Joins eSentio Technologies

In a big name hire for eSentio Technologies, Martin (“Marty”) K. Metz has joined the US-headquartered legal technology consultancy as its chief innovation officer. Metz is one of the better-known names in the industry and between 2010 and 2020 was chief information officer of Am Law 100 firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. Before that he was director of information technology at O’Melveny & Myers. He was also CEO of SV Technology from 1999 to 2006. He joins eSentio after just under two years of working under his own steam as a consultant CIO with Metz Legal.

Metz said of joining eSentio: “This role will allow me to engage with CIOs and other leaders as they face continuing change and challenges in Legal IT. Whether it is building a stronger security posture, implementing information governance policies and systems, or developing new strategies for the future, I very much want to make those engagements successful and sustaining.”

Metz has had a distinguished career in the legal IT community and a decade ago was instrumental in Pillsbury’s site selection and opening of a new operations center in Nashville, TN, which transformed how support and legal services were delivered at the firm.

Yvonne Dornic, eSentio’s CEO, said: “[Marty’s] reputation as a thought leader and commitment to improving IT services for the legal industry, has always been valued by fellow CIOs and the vendor community at large. As chief innovation officer for eSentio, Marty will collaborate with law firm leaders and strategic partners to identify trends, pain points and emerging needs in order to drive the creation of innovative solutions to meeting those needs. Marty brings a unique set of experiences and expertise that will benefit our clients, drive innovation, and further expand our thought leadership in the legal community.”

Metz’s hire coincides with eSentio’s expansion into the UK with hire of Simon Elven as director of UK operations.
