Undoubtedly one of the standout demos at Legaltech New York, CMS is adopting Brainspace’s machine-learning and data visualisation technology to accelerate its data analysis and review in litigation, arbitration and investigations.
The new technology will sit within CMS Evidence, which is a global service created by CMS to support the hosting, forensic analysis, review and distribution of electronic and physical evidence.
Brainspace uses simple visualisations to show users groupings of recurring words, topics and the names of the people most frequently discussing them. It illustrates the scale of and relationship of documents and people.
“This is a sophisticated and intuitive data review and analysis tool that will help to meet the challenges of having to work with increasing amounts of data on disputes and investigations matters,” says Omar Qureshi, head of corporate crime at CMS. “The net result will be a saving in time and cost for clients and a significant improvement in the speed in understanding the relevant data, and identifying the issues and relationships it reveals.”
“We are thrilled to have CMS as a partner and customer, a firm setting a high standard for excellence and innovation in the legal industry,” said Dave Copps, CEO of Brainspace. “Brainspace is continuing to extend its lead as the premier analytics provider in the industry and adoption of our technology by CMS not only highlights our commitment to growth in Europe, but will bring radical improvement to the productivity and effectiveness of CMS.”
