Mitimes sends warning over compromised email account

Australian-founded automated timesheet provider Mitimes has sent an email to contacts of founder and ex-CEO Rob Comazzetto warning them that they may have received a message that was not an authorised communication from Mitimes and not to open any suspicious links.

Comazzetto, who is managing director of commercial law firm Cowell Clarke and has been with the firm for over 25 years, co-founded Mitimes eight and half years ago, handing over the CEO role to Kirsten Rillo in 2021. He is still a director of Mitimes but no longer uses that email account for business, and told Legal IT Insider that unlike the other Mitimes email account users, had not set up multi factor authentication on the Outlook account.

According to both Comazzetto and Rillo, neither the Mitimes product nor any clients are affected.

Rillo told Legal IT Insider that the incident “is isolated to a few contacts in Rob’s personal email. We are just asking anyone who received the email to not click on the link.”

She added: “There is no concern with our product at all. We have invested heavily in security for Mitimes and in our governance.”
