At ILTACON 2025, we canvassed the opinions and takeaways of law firm legal tech leaders and rising stars from across the globe as to what was top of their agenda at the conference and what their key takeaways were. Some of the conversations were leisurely, and some grabbed in between or after meetings. The results were too good to share in scattered articles, and cumulatively, they help us to form a clearer picture of a truly shifting industry.
There are some immediately obvious areas of consensus:
- We’re in a year of tangible investment in AI, not just talk. This notes a shift from last year.
- Cloud adoption remains a critical focus – firms are not all ‘in the cloud’.
- PMS remains a significant challenge when it comes to cloud adoption.
- There is a recurring conversation around ‘mainstream v legal tech’ – this has been the case off and on for years, and we are on.
- People and roles – whether it’s reminding ourselves of the need for self-care or looking at how CINOs and legal operations head interact, there’s a strong human element to our focus this year.
- Strategy and culture – AI isn’t just about tools. The firms that differentiate themselves won’t do it on the basis that they buy more stuff.
- MCP and AI integrations – announcements around the model context protocol could be game changing for search strategies.
My huge thanks as always to everyone who made the time to speak to me.
