Exclusive: Donna Broadley joins Xperate as general manager of APAC

Donna Broadley, the former CEO of LEAP APAC, has joined global software development company Xperate as general manager for the APAC region. Broadley, who is based in Sydney, starts in the new role today (1 September), tasked with growing Xperate’s presence in the region.

Xperate helps legal organisations to build their own products and tools or improve and better integrate their existing tech stack. It announced its strategic expansion into Australia in November last year and this year expanded its team with the hire of Melanie Symes-Turner and Danielle Kazkiw. Speaking to Legal IT Insider, Broadley said that she was drawn by the fact that Xperate doesn’t revolve around selling one product and has a strong services side. “A lot of my background in Leap has been consulting and although Xperate is a big business now, I like the fact that in Australia it’s like a startup because we’re just really getting started,” she said.

Xperate’s APAC growth plans are well-timed, given that anti-money laundering legislation is currently being rolled out in Australia, requiring firms to look at new products and introduce services. “There are a lot of ways that Xperate can get involved and help and not many players that do similar work,” Broadley said. “It’s early days for me getting to know the business but I like the fact that they have different parts to the business. What’s exciting is the bespoke work they can do such as the migration of legacy software to new software, and also their consultancy and implementation work with companies including Actionstep.”

She added: “I know a lot of the legal players over here and this role gives the opportunity to get to them better. Xperate is Switzerland, and doesn’t care what product you use, they are there to build and consult for you, so I’m looking forward to building those relationships.”

Xperate was founded in the UK in 2021 and has grown to a circa 150-strong organisation with a stronghold of developers in Pune, India. Outside of those offices it is also based in Toronto and Denmark.
