Hi and welcome to the July/August Orange Rag, where our exclusive top story is that Ashurst is launching a digital strategy this Autumn in order to facilitate cultural change around digital capability and delivery. The new strategy is being led by chief digital officer Tara Waters, with sponsorship at the highest level in the firm. We speak with both Waters and the co-head of Ashurst’s ‘newlaw’ technology arm Ashurst Advance, Chris Georgiou.
This month we kick off with our biggest web stories in order of traffic and social media interaction, with the move by Dan Surowiec from Baker McKenzie to Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner on top by a country mile. Surowiec, who started as head of the circa 100 strong BCLP IT team on 18 July, takes over from Connie Hoffman, who is taking over as global director of procurement in a bid to build up that function internationally.
The Orange Rag is the go-to source for everything that has happened in legal tech land in the past month, and you can read or re-read about Surowiec and find out which our other biggest stories of the month were below.
This is a bit of a bumper newsletter as it’s the last before the end of September. Grab a coffee (or pina colada), enjoy the sunshine (or perhaps more likely the shade), and the newsletter will back with a bang in the Autumn. Don’t forget to keep reading www.legaltechnology.com for daily news and commentary.
