No-code document generation and workflow automation tool Kim today (19 January) announced it has launched pre-packaged applications for corporate legal teams to quickly automate the key stages of their work environment from triage to instructing outside counsel, with no need for technical expertise.
The applications, which combine best-practice templates, workflow, and data capture, are aimed at all functions irrespective of their size and include:
- Support requests – so legal teams can manage intake effectively.
- Self-service of letters, forms, checklists, compliance documents, boiler-plate contracts – using oneNDA as the example of what can be self-served to business teams.
- Approving Outside Counsel Management appointment – to control the engagement of outside counsel.
Kim syncs directly with an organisations’ existing work environment such as their web browser or Microsoft Teams. Corporate legal departments can use these applications, and any others they create, for less than $11,000 per year for unlimited users.
Legal teams can also take their existing Microsoft Word documents (letters, forms, checklists and compliance records, etc.) and turn these into web applications.
Speaking to Legal IT Insider, Kim founder Karl Chapman said: “What we have created is a core package so that corporate legal teams can go to our document automation website, press a button and download the templates, and set up their front door in 30 minutes.
“You can make sure that requests coming in are complete and you have all the data. That frees up time if you have good quality instructions. You can also enable the business to self-serve and you can manage outside counsel. With the security of MS Azure and the Microsoft stack and being accessible from MS Teams as well as your browser, this really is a ‘no-regrets’ package for Corporate Legal Departments.”
Asked why the costs have been made deliberately low – and the package almost too good to be true – Chapman said: “One thing we find with corporate organisations is that they find it hard to start the digitisation journey. We are solving the problem we see all the time, which is ‘how do I get started?’ They don’t need to take their documents and automate them – here is the package and you can be live in 30 minutes.”
In terms of who will need to be responsible for the process, Chapman said: “There really is no training required, this is no-code. There are literally four steps and it’s very straight forward, but if they struggle they can call our helpline.”
In-house teams may be worried about making mistakes in the set up, but Chapman said: “What happens at the moment is that they get calls and emails and have conversations by the water cooler and there is no data capture and no consistency. With our templates, every business user who needs support clicks and link and up pops a request form. It removes the risk of error and standardises the process.”
