Legalweek quick-fire video chats: Filetrail, QuisLex, ProSearch & AbacusNext

Well, we’re not together for Legalweek in New York City, and we’re not moaning about the lack of facilities in the Hilton Midtown or enjoying fun cocktail parties hosted by vendors BUT, here at Legal IT Insider we’re posting some fun and informative video chats and content to mark the week.

First up is a chat with Darrell Mervau, co-founder and president of FileTrail Inc., which enables teams at both law firms and corporates to manage compliance by centralising information management and automating the likes of document destruction after a period of time.

We talk about how COVID has impacted the information governance requirements of firms and the flight to Microsoft Teams. Do law firms have a proper strategy, and where are the gaps?

Filetrail is bootstrapped and counts among its customers companies including Allergan, Gilead, Apache Energy, Noble Energy, USBank, Marsh Companies, Hogan Lovells, Akin Gump, Foley Lardner and Nelson Mullins.

Next up is legal services provider QuisLex, where we speak to chief operating officer and ex-Shearman lawyer Sirisha Gummaregula.

Gummaregula heads up teams of data analysts, Six Sigma black belts, process experts, statisticians, legal technologists and attorneys, and we talk about two projects where the company is using advanced data analytics.

QuisLex was founded in 2004 and specializes in managed document review, contract and compliance management, legal spend management and legal operations.

eDiscovery vendor ProSearch works with law firms and corporate legal teams and we speak to director of applied sciences and accelerated learning solutions, Dr Gina Taranto and Ryan Costello, who is head of data privacy services at ProSearch.

Dr Taranto tells us it’s now not a case of whether to use Technology Assisted Review (TAR) – but which one. And Costello talks about an uptick since COVID19 in the use of Data Subject Access Requests by employees.

And at SaaS case management software vendor AbacusNext we have a fascinating chat with global product marketing director for legal Tomas Suros about the cultural shift towards digital transformation over the past year. Lawyers that made digitization difficult are embracing change far more readily – will the past year mean we close the gap between the legal and banking sector?
