ILTA day one is over and we’ve predictably been inundated with wins and deals and people move announcements which we bring you here in bite size form. There’s also some news here that you won’t hear (yet) elsewhere.
Not off the press yet, Intapp has hired Toni Minick as director of product management, leading development of Intapp Open Experience (Intapp’s experience management system). Minick, who is well known on the law firm BD/marketing circuit joins from LexisNexis Interaction.
In further hires news Prevalent – which plays in the third party risk management and vendor threat intelligence space – has announced the appointments of Brian Harvell as vice president of engineering and Jared Feinberg as senior director of threat intelligence.
Harvell was most recently CIO and development lead of CMC, Inc., whose platform helps banks and other creditors better manage customer experiences. He was previously vice president of product engineering for SevOne, and executive director of infrastructure management for Comcast. Feinberg joins Prevalent from Booz Allen Hamilton where he led an open-source intelligence team within the organization’s strategic innovation group.
Wins and deals
In a significant win for Luminance, the machine learning-backed contract review platform has started working with CAS (Carillion Advice Services), a leading innovator in managed legal services.
CAS, part of the Carillion Group, will use Luminance’s artificial intelligence technology to enhance the corporate due diligence document review projects it conducts on behalf of M&A departments in the UK’s leading law firms. The system’s ability to prioritise a data room review by automatically highlighting key areas of interest allows CAS to use its legal resources as wisely and cost-effectively as possible, delivering better value and higher-quality results to their law firm clients. Built-in collaboration tools also add value to CAS’ work by streamlining the entire review process.
Big news for Thomson Reuters Elite as Gordon, Arata, Montgomery, Barnett, McCollam, Duplantis & Eagan, LLC, headquartered in New Orleans, will be the first law firm to adopt 3E Cloud.
Elite 3E Cloud is a scalable technology used to track and manage workflow, reporting and analytics to improve law firm efficiency and increase profitability. The new product, which is expected to be generally available mid-year 2018, is the result of a Thomson Reuters and Microsoft relationship to provide superior data security, power and load capacity flexibility, improved disaster recovery, and real time rollover for improved risk management of business data via Azure cloud.
In other TRE news, Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy – an Enterprise client – has selected 3E as its future finance technology platform, in order to enhance its financial management capabilities.
Headquartered in New York with 660 lawyers across 12 global locations, Milbank will be using the multi-currency, global reporting capabilities and workflow tools in 3E to ensure that the running of its practice is streamlined and improved.
Legal software company Levit & James and national legal research service Fastcase have formed an alliance to make large amounts of case law widely available at little or no cost, beginning early in 2018.
Fletcher James, President of Levit & James, said: “When attorneys prepare documents using the upcoming Version 5.0 of Levit & James’s Best Authority software, they will have the option of adding hyperlinks to citations in the text and also to the Table of Authorities. Any person reading an electronic copy of that document will then be able to read the text of those Authorities online at Fastcase.com. Also, in the near future, Levit & James will be introducing HyperCase, a new e-briefing package, which will allow them to automatically download and incorporate content from Fastcase.”
iManage has made a raft of announcements including:
– Its first integrations of the RAVN AI platform into its products — iManage Insight, iManage Classify and iManage Extract — helping legal, accounting and finance professionals improve productivity and save money by automating basic cognitive tasks.
– The introduction of Work 10.1, the newest version of its document and email management application. This new version uses RAVN AI technology to deliver more powerful search and collaboration features.
– That Quilling, Selander, Lownds, Winslett & Moser, P.C. has switched from NetDocuments to iManage Cloud for work product management.
Veritone, a leading provider of artificial intelligence (AI) based solutions, announced that they have introduced extensive language translation support within kCura’s eDiscovery solution Relativity, which works for virtually any type of media, including audio and video files, emails and text documents.
With the Veritone Media Player, Relativity users can now employ machine translation for over 100 languages, including Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish, for evidentiary media. The Veritone Media Player also now incorporates Relativity’s Structured and Conceptual Analytics for expedited and efficient discovery of content and key topics.
Wilson Legal Solutions and American LegalNet (ALN) announced the formation of a services partnership. The agreement solidifies Wilson Legal Solutions’ relationship with ALN and establishes it as a preferred implementation partner of ALN’s eDockets – Critical Dates docketing, legal forms, and calendaring software. ContractPod announced a new strategic alliance with commercial law firm Radius Law. Aimed principally at general counsel across the UK, the collaboration has been set up to provide an innovative solution for delivering legal services by harnessing best in class contract automation, workflow automation and contract lifecycle technology.
As part of the strategic alliance, Radius Law will now offer its client base access to ContractPod in addition to its high value legal services. ContractPod said that the strategic alliance is expected to support digital transformation of many in-house legal teams across the UK.
And TutorPro, a leading supplier of learning software and solutions to the worldwide legal community, has signed a partnership with Inspired eLearning, the global leaders in security and compliance training and awareness to provide a package of security awareness eLearning for the legal and professional services sectors. New products and versions
Intapp announced Intapp Open 4.0, the latest release of its business acceptance solution. Using Intapp Open, firms can now proactively manage potential client issues by triggering alerts and workflows when specific financial, risk and compliance thresholds are met throughout the client and matter lifecycle.
In addition, Intapp Open 4.0 introduces AI-assisted review and categorization of clients’ outside counsel guidelines, significantly reducing the time and effort it takes a firm to classify the terms of business specified in OCGs, engagement letters and other requirements documents.
FTI Consulting has announced that its Ringtail business has released version 9.2 of its award-winning e-discovery platform.
Ringtail 9.2 introduces social network analytics and a pre-configured workspace designed to accelerate the speed and accuracy of early case assessments and investigations. Legal teams can visualize and review social network and communication patterns found in the data. Demonstrations of Ringtail 9.2 will be available at ILTACON from August 14-17, 2017 in booth 431 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas.
Levit & James announced that Best Authority 5.0, the latest version of their award-winning Table of Authorities (TOA) software, will include major enhancements including pay-as-you-go per-document pricing and an internet hyperlinking capability – including free linking to content at Fastcase. Version 5.0 will enter beta testing at customer sites in early 2018.
