Mike Haven, Meta: “In 2025 we will start to see tangible GenAI productivity gains”

Mike Haven is the former global head of legal operations at Intel and recently appointed global head of legal operations at Meta. Haven was previously president of CLOC, the Corporate Legal Operations Consortium.

Speaking to Legal IT Insider from the TLTF Summit in Miami, Haven said of 2024: “It was a remarkable year. If you go back to November of 2022 when GPT was released and you think about the evolution that’s happened since then, 2023 was really a year of learning about that technology and what it does and 2024 has been a year of experimentation.”

Haven observed that GenAI has brought out a cultural change in lawyers. “All of a sudden they are interested in process for the first time ever. They’re interested in the scientific method for the first time I can remember in my career. And they care about clean data and: it matters now. So lawyers are starting to become interested in areas that they never really dipped their toes into before. And so that’s really what stands out to me in in 2024.”

In 2025, Haven says we will start to see tangible GenAI productivity gains.
