Autologyx launches next generation operations platform to wider user base

Following 18 months of development work with customers, Autologyx is set to release the next generation of its workflow automation platform, in which the user experience has been simplified to open it up to a much wider audience, including law firm innovation and legal operations teams.

Autologyx Catalyst brings together the company’s relational data model designer; a visual workflow automation engine; customisable workspaces; form builders; task management and document automation.

The legacy platform already helps to automate complex workflow problems with the likes of Eversheds Sutherland’s alternative legal services arm Konexo, but according to Autologyx’s CEO Edward Wilson, the new iteration ‘raises the bar’. He says: “We have the same engine, the same drag and drop capability, and a nice dashboard. But if innovation teams are going to get their hands on it, they don’t have the patience to fiddle with the CSS and Java Script, so we had to lower the threshold for people to use it.”

Wilson says that Catalyst is now capable of handling more variables. He says: “If you boil it down, it’s workflow automation but it’s highly flexible and scalable so you can solve complex problems. With classic automation, you need a high proportion of standardisation. The alternative legal services providers who have a playbook and want rinse and repeat is our classic space. But the new platform allows us to scale to law firms and in-house legal operations teams, because the customer can easily configure and deliver it.”

He adds: “The platform has multiple components and different customers will want it to solve different problems. You might be solving legal services request use cases and for every customer, 20% of those are unique to them, but our platform allows you to scale to those variants.”

Autologyx, which is UK-founded but we’re told gaining traction in the US, is responding to growing market demand for no-code/low-code automation technology. Chief customer officer Ben Wightwick said: “The new platform will make the customer less reliant on us. Previously they would be reliant unless they have a team like Konexo. We’re lowering the bar, so you don’t need to have a rocket science degree to start using it or have three days of training to build your first workflow. Now it might be half an hour of show and tell, which increases the ease of use, and of adoption.”

Autologyx is beginning four pilots with three prospects and a current customer. Wilson said: “We’ve worked with Konexo very closely on the release to make sure a) we can solve similar problems and b) we can solve new ones. We also have other legacy customers outside of legal that we have been fairly close to in terms of what the platform can do going forward.”

Autologyx will still have the ‘pro-code’ capabilities for those who wish to extend the platform further.
