iManage and Mitratech today (3 September) launched iManage for Mitratech CaseCloud, a best of breed case management, document management and document automation solution that will rival contract lifecycle management offerings for legal organisations outside of the Fortune 200. Built on the Salesforce platform, CaseCloud is a case and spend management solution launched by Mitratech last year following its acquisition of AdvoLogix, and developed through a combination of Salesforce and AdvoLogix technologies.
While iManage and Mitratech have long had a technology partnership and DMS connectors, embedding iManage Work directly in this way as part of an integrated offering is a first.
Speaking to Legal IT Insider, Chris Iconos, general manager of legal solutions at Mitratech, said: “This is a pioneering partnership and the first of its kind where document management and case management systems have partnered in this way. It’s a specially configured instance of iManage specific for CaseCloud because we’re seeing demand from our customers for a robust DMS.”
The new offering is targeted specifically at corporates outside of the Fortune 200 and law firms of 50 users and under, as well as companies in the public sector.
Within the corporate legal space, teams often use Dropbox or SharePoint or a downstream DMS provider and Iconos said: “We’re seeing a groundswell of support from the midmarket for a more robust document management tool. If you go to a 50 person law firm or mid-market corporate legal team, they don’t have the ability or internal resources to go and buy world class eBilling, case management, document management and document automation tools and then spend a lot more on managing that, it becomes a bridge too far. We are really excited about giving our customers the ability to have a one-stop-shop.”
The suggestion that this new offering will rival CLM solutions is interesting. Iconos observed: “I’ll share an industry view that’s not widely talked about. Over half of the legal teams that are looking to implement a CLM don’t need it and shouldn’t procure it. If you think about the amount of work it takes for a successful CLM deployment, many stand no chance of success.
“This is a proven partnership: we work really well together and customers can now procure an integrated package that gives them 80% of the capabilities of a CLM provider but in a shorter time and with better time to value.”
The development of this partnership will undoubtedly help iManage extend its corporate legal customer base. While there has always been a pressure on corporates to use mainstream rather than legal tech where possible and that shift is, if anything, accelerating with the advent of general AI tools, the single access and sign on with Mitratech will be a huge selling point.
For law firms, the integration creates a centralised hub for client and matter files – spanning briefs, filings, and evidence – ensuring every document is organized, searchable, and auditable with audit trails and version control.
Users can centralize contract workflows with access to iManage for obligations, approvals, and compliance tracking. It also eliminates platform switching by having iManage natively inside Mitratech CaseCloud.
“We’re seeing a clear shift in the market – law firms, corporates, and public sector organizations alike are demanding secure and reliable document and knowledge management as a core capability,” said Iconos. “This is no longer a feature reserved for a select few; it’s a fundamental requirement for legal and risk teams of every size who want to work smarter, more securely, and with greater efficiency.”
“This partnership underscores iManage’s commitment to meeting customers where they work,” said Dan Dosen, executive vice president of channels and alliances at iManage. “By embedding iManage directly within Mitratech CaseCloud, we’re extending our trusted knowledge platform into the workflows legal teams rely on every day. Together, we’re making it easier for firms, corporations, and public sector organizations to manage their most critical knowledge with security, efficiency, and confidence – all without ever having to leave the CaseCloud environment.”
